The Latest Happenings at Armadillo Racing
Additional Technical Speakers Added to 2018 Seminar
Race engineer, Eric Purcell, will be speaking at our 23rd annual High Performance Racing Seminar. His topic is “How to Maximize Your Race Weekend.” We all know just how short time is during a normal club racing weekend. Eric will show you how to make the most out of your time to improve your results. As the owner of EFM Racing, Eric has to rely on his more than 35 years of full time racing experience to provide the professional, championship winning service that EFM’s customers rely on. Eric’s career started as a mechanic in the mid 70’s on IMSA, Formula Atlantic and Can-Am cars. Throughout most of the 1980’s Eric focused on his driving career while gaining experience as an engineer, which led to his success as a multi-championship winning engineer and team manager. Most recently Eric engineered 2017 SCCA National Champion Formula Mazda, Mel Kemper to his championship.
A very special speaker, Ken McGuire, a dirt modified driver from upstate New York, is “Racing’s Lawyer.” Ken who has represented racers, sanctioning bodies and tracks in the court room, will provide invaluable information that each racer should know to protect yourself, your team and your sponsors. It is easy when Ken shares his information. This is one talk you will not want to miss.
After coming out of retirement, Roy Howell, chief chemist for Red Line Oil, is going to teach you everything you need to know about lubricants for your race car. Let’s get rid of the magic and back paddock secrets and learn the truth about what oils, greases and gear lubes will and won’t do for your race car. Red Line is one of the most respected names in racing lubrication and Roy, who developed most of their championship winning products, is going to share basics of lubrication that every champion driver and crew needs to know, and do it in a way that even a novice can understand.
These three outstanding technical experts will be joining Tim Gray, from Porterfield Brakes. Tim who has years and years of experience with brake pads and rotors is going to up date you on the latest technology and help you select just the right pads for you and your car. Not every car and not ever driver will like the same pads, so instead of doing what everyone else in your class is doing, come and listen to Tim and then make your own choice. Just may be there is a better pad that fits your car and your driving style.
A special lunchtime guest speaker will be added soon. Last year, Jack Baldwin, 1992, Trans-Am Champion had the attendees laughing until they cried as he shared his racing exploits.
The seminar will be held February 10th 2018 at the Quality Inn and Suites in Tacoma, WA just off Interstate 5. Registration opens at 8 AM for a 9 AM start. The registration fee is $257 and includes coffee and rolls to start the day, a full hot lunch and snacks in the afternoon. The price also includes $20 in Armadillo Racing Bucks to be spend the same as cash at the event.
Still thinking it over? This is our 23rd annual event. Over the past 22 years over 1000 racers, crews, FSAE students, and fans have attended and all have been overwhelmed. Not just by the vast amount of information provided, the ease in which they learned race specific topic that can be used right now on their car, and just how much fun they had. All day to think and learn how to make you and the car better, to focus on your racing and your program. With a live seminar, with live speakers you can get all your questions answered personally by the experts. This is a unique opportunity that you can’t get from a DVD, Video, CD or a book. Best part is that is local to the Pacific Northwest.
I feel so strongly that this event will help you and your racing, here is my personal guarantee, if after hearing the morning session, you don’t think you have gotten your money’s worth from what you’ve heard and seen, I’ll refund your entry plus $50 for wasting your time. You have nothing to lose but seconds off your lap times.
Think you might not be able to attend because the date might not work? Register anyway and we’ll refund your money up to February 7th. You really have no risk.
